Check Out the Itinerary

For the participants coming from Delhi, we can arrange the taxi from Delhi to Amritsar. The cost will be shared by the participants coming together in the taxi on actuals basis.

Physical Level: While the trip itself is not very strenuous, please note that it can involve the following: somewhat long days, a good amount of walking, early morning wake-ups and other similarly challenging scenarios.

Subject to Change: Please keep in mind that the above itinerary and activities are subject to change. Travel sometimes involves unexpected situations so things might need to be re-arranged at times. However, it is important to remember that travel is all about the journey, and so even the unexpected situations we may face should be treated as part of the overall experience!

Accommodations: Prices are based on the sharing of rooms and single members of the group will typically be put together. While we do our best to secure as many rooms with separate beds as possible, sometimes two members of the group might have to share a large bed but that’s all part of the adventure and we guarantee we’ll have a blast anyway. Single supplement is available on this trip at an extra cost of 1500 INR.

Airport/Railway Station Transfers: Please note there are no individual pick ups and drops. Your airport/Railway station transfers will be clubbed with other roamers travelling with you on this trip. This might result in some wait at the airport/Station while pickup and an early drop at the airport while leaving Amritsar. If you want an individual drop let us know and we will arrange a private taxi for you. Price for that will be on the actual basis and you can pay the amount directly to the driver.

Bonfire: We have arranged bonfire on Day 1. However, in case of further unavoidable circumstances like rain, we may have to cancel the bonfire. But that won’t stop us from dancing, singing and sharing those thrilling stories you have in store.

Day 1: Arrive in Amritsar, Beating Retreat Ceremony

Arrive at the beautiful city by Train or Flight on your own. To enjoy the trip to the fullest we request you to reach Amritsar latest by 12:30 PM. Your pickup from the airport/railway station to the hotel will be arranged.

Welcome to Amritsar. Check-in. Freshen up and we all gather for lunch and an initial orientation.

Around 3:30 PM we will leave for the Wagah Border Beating Retreat ceremony. Wagah border is the only road we share with our estranged neighbour Pakistan. The ceremony takes place everyday at sunset since 1959 on both sides of the border, the soldiers bring down their flags in perfect unison with the setting sun. Soldiers from India and Pakistan kick off the ceremony with ecstatic drills, parades and impressively high kicks to show the power of their country and respect for the neighbour. Let your heart thump out of your chest when the flags come down as you can’t stop but wonder how these two countries stand head to head even when they were carved out from the same land.

Golden temple at night is lit up with thousands of lights to add more beauty to the marvel. Burry yourself in the golden lights reflecting from the holy lake and the temple. A sight to behold it is.

Amritsar’s Kesar-Da-Dhaba is literally world famous for its thali and authentic Punjabi food. After we shop to our heart’s content we will gorge on delicious Dhaba food for dinner here.

Day 2: Golden Temple, Other Monuments and Street Food Of Amritsar

After a hearty breakfast we will head to Jallianwala Bagh memorial. Part of the gardens are now converted into a memorial for the martyrs of the 1919 massacre.

What we saw lit up last night is no less a marvel during the day. Built in the 16th century, the Harmandir Saheb and The golden temple complex provides a sublime peacefulness that cannot be experienced anywhere else. Sit down, soak in the beauty, capture some memories on your smartphone or DSLR to take back home.

And off-course we can’t miss the simple and delicious Langar Food at the Golden temple. In the afternoon we will visit the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum, to marvel at the glory of the Sher-i-Punjab who kept the Muslim invaders at bay, especially from Afghanistan. The Panorama room highlights the king’s conquests with life size modelling of the events.

After learning of the Maharaja’s adventures it is now time for some shopping. To call Amritsar’s local markets of Hall Bazaar, Guru Bazaar, Katya Jamal Singh Market unique would be an understatement. Buy yourself or your dear ones the authentic Punjabi Juttis and jewellery only found in these tiny allies full of shops.

Let’s end this last night together with the warm sumptuous dinner.
